Welcome to Love's:  The primary purpose of the Licensing Research Specialist - Accountant position is to ensure licensing fees are accurately calculated and remitted to federal, state and local licensing authorities to ensure compliance for the Love’s Family of Companies.

Job Functions:

  • Calculate business license fees in various jurisdications based on gross sales and gross receipts and recover overpayments when applicable 
  • Review current licensing fee calculations, communicate errors and overpayments, and provide guidance to minimize licensing liability
  • Make independent decisions and recommendations regarding journal entries, reconciliations and work paper analysis.
  • Work with legal, accounting and other departments as needs/opportunities arise to ensure compliance with changing licensing codes and ordinances that may effect the calculation of licensing fees
  • Work with licensing staff, as needed, to ensure accuracy of licensing applications and fee payments
  • Handle confidential information which would have immediate negative impact on individuals, and the company operations, performance or value if shared beyond its intended audience
  • Assist with and/or implement automation efforts
  • Perform monthly Licensing purchase card reconciliations.
  • Track Key Performance Indicators and provide quarterly reports 

 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax Accounting, Finance, or Business. Degree with an Accounting emphasis or focus is preferred
  • 1-3 years of work experience as a staff accountant, tax accountant, compliance accountant, revenue accountant, internal auditor, idirect tax accountant, sales and use tax accountant, transaction tax accountant, SALT accountant, tax intern, sales & use tax, sales tax accountant, business tax analyst, auditor, accounting associate, or accounting analyst is preferred.
  • Prior experience with accounting, auditing, and reconciliation of record data is preferred
  • GAAP accounting knowledge and experience is preferred

 

Skills and Physical Demands:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office with strong skills in MS Excel.
  • Skilled in tax accounting, accounting, sales and use tax, GL accounting, indirect tax, transactional tax work, financial reporting, gross receipts calculations and gross sales calculations, auditing processes, reconciling accounts.
  • Experience with multi-state sales and use tax is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with SAP is a plus.
  • Strong oral and verbal communication skills; ability to perform and make decisions under pressure and strict deadlines; excellent time management skills; detail oriented; ability to multitask and be a team player
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Possible evening/weekend work
  • This position is located at Love's Corporate HQ in Oklahoma City. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm.
  • This is an associate-level accounting / entry-level accounting / junior accounting position.
